European Spruce (Norway Spruce), Picea abies #3
75 cm high
About 150 years old
Pot Japanese, Tokoname
From a tree which was collected in Italy in 1994
Anyway, it is certainly not finished and still has a long way to go. Spruce take the longest to reach the stage of maturity. This was in captivity now since more than 13 years and still is not showable. The pot seems too large at the moment. This is fine. It helps the tree to grow well and it will be the right size eevntually. The crown will gain in volume and optical weight and will fit to the pot in a few years.
The design is 'modern'. Only since about ten years it has become fashionable or even acceptable to create a crown of a single long leggy branch.
