European Spruce (Norway Spruce) # 1

from a tree which was collectes in Switzerland in 1982

Werner Trachsel from Switzerland collected this spruce in 1982. It was featured in the world famous book by my friend Werner Busch. In 1992 I acquired the main part of Werner Trachsel's collection and this tree waspart of the deal. As one can see it already was a pretty impressive medium size bonsai at that time. So there was not too much room for improvement. It was more a maintenance task for me. Well, one could improve the pot anyway. After a few years the sprucce appeared overgrown as so many do in 'captivity'. So at one point I thinned it out considerably and gave it a more 'ancient spruce in the mountain' look. In summer of 2007 I decided to place it on a natural stone as we can sometimes find them in Germany. This spruce was discussed in the AoB. See this: Critique: Walter Pall's Norway Spruce
