Flowering dogwood(Cornus mas) #3

60 cm high
Around 40 years old
Trainings pot
collected in parking lot 2001

I saw this dogwood many times when I drove by a parking lot in my town. It was planted with many other trees from a nursery about fifteen years ago to frame the parking lot. It always intrigued me, but, of course, there was no way to get it. And it was far too big anyway. Well, in the fall of 2001 I drove by again and here it was right on the ground. A lunatic managed to run his car into the tree and knock it over. Two days later the tree was still lying there. I approached the management and asked them about the tree. 'We did not have time yet to carry it away' ' Oh really, how about if I did this for your, for free, of course.' 'Sure, you can have it.' Wow! So I managed to lift this monster into my car, but only after I had cut it in half. It was planted into my growing field and set there for four years. Then it went into this ugly mica pot. I was willing to part with it, but nobody wanted this ugly stump. so in spring of 2007 I started to work on it myself. See the progress.
